Have No Wild Hordes to 'Bust; Although Indians Have A plenty. TJFNWFR, Colo., Feb. 19. Broncho busttrs uf the northern Hocky mountain statf-s are about to go out of busiM-ss, according to reports from officials of wild we.jt and frontier shows. The reason is there aren't any wild hordes to bust. At leaH tiot around Wyoming and this part of thfr country. Kut down in Arizona they have wild horses to rat. There are 10,000 of thm. They belong to tho San Carle Indians, who have a reservation not far from Globe. Tiut there isn't much chance of getting the Arizona ponies for the broncho busters

; of Wyoming for the Indians won't

give them up. The day of the wild herds of horses roaming the plains of Wyoming and adjacent states hus been growing rapidly shorter with the encroachment of eUiiizatlon more and more ranches are being fenced in. herds of cattle are reduced or confined and to make the matter worse for the existence of the wild eteeds, oil drilling camps hav ber-n extended over wide areas of Wyoming, northwestern Colorado and Utah. Wild Herds Roam Reservation. But down on the San Carlos Indian reservation there arc 10,000 wild Bteeds, roaming at will over the fields, destroying mile after mile of grazing land which might be put into good use for cattle, ar.d turning green grans of the prairie into a scrawny covering for their bones which hardly make even a decent meal for and Indiana. Th cattlemen have tried to buy them, but thp Indians wouldn't listen. The government, through A. II. Symonds, Indian agent, offered to purchase thm at about 56 a head, invest the money into cattle and save th- meat from the horses, giving It back to the Indians for winter food. But the Indians would have none of it. The horses are worthless, even for hides. They cannot b domesticated and the meat isn't much of a delicacy, but the Indians insist on their age-old prerogative to .have their herds out on the open prairie even as their fathers did. The Indllans also have about 2,000 wild burrows which they my they will keep. Indians SHdom Changv Minds. "And when an Indian makes up his mind." Mr. Symonds Fays, "you've got to have patience to get him to chmg it. They ar proud of the horses and burros for Fome

: reason and although som of their

leaders have tried to persuade them to accept th filers made, so far they have refused to 11." Sometimes in the Isolated mountain canons horse? are found running loose, .but while these might be termed wild, they usually belong to some rancher who has let them run loose. Wild burrows are frequent In various parts of Ailzona and occasionally are found in Utah. But the eld wild horse herds of themountain plateau region have gone, probably forever.
