We will fight it out along these lines with the public behind us, whether it makes every other merchant in the city fighting mad or not. We have started something and we are going to see it through. Two days ago that big poster of ours, "OUT OF THE RUT," dropped like a bomb. . It sizzled straight on to a big army of people. It was plain truth, and we had the facts to back up every word of it. We did not beat around the bush, but ripped the lid off of South Bend's merchandising methods and let everyone look. It was not a criticism of any local merchants but of the merchandising system. We did not then and we do not now pose as public benefactors. We are seeking no halo. That frank statement meant as much t us as it did to the people of South Bend. - - - ... v - On every hand we have been complimented thanked! New friends by the hundreds have come. We knew this would happen. We knew that any person who took the time to read and understand it would quickly take advantage of the common sense methods that we are using. We have the greatest and best quality merchandise in South Bend, and nothing will stand in our wav to make this the most talked of sale that has ever been c held in this vicinity. Every article in our immense stock will be sold to you on an absolute guarantee of satisfaction. It will be sold to you with the understanding that if it is not as represented, we will p-ladlv exchange or refund your money on any purchase made. . Our 15 years of doing business in South Bend has given us a reputation that we are proud of, and we intend to still maintain this, even though we have been compelled to drop a bomb on the merchandising situation to show you that we do business only one way, and that is always playing a square game with the public.
