Thirtythree children were excluded from the schools as suspected cas-.s of contagions disease. "The large percentage of children !n the city schools who are found to be e'efective, shows that we must make more strenuous efforts to encourage parents to help lower th high rate," said Miss Kline in concluding her report. "It Is only for the benefit of the children that we insist upon decayed teeth being filled, diseased tonsil being removed, and defective eyes corrected. We must have, the cooperation of tho parents if we hope to make our children physically fit."
Announcement of the appointment of Gus Hasianger as deputy collector of Internal revenue in St. Joseph county, was made by M. T. Cummings, divisional revenue chief. Thursday. Ilaslanger, who was formerly cashier in the South IJend State bank, assumed his new duties Wednesday. He haa lived in South IJend all his life. An enormous increase In the collections of the local revenue ollicc necessitated the securing of additional help, according to Cummings. While ofliclals are not allowed to give cut the amount of collections, it is said that close to $600,000 is collected monthly at the South Bend cilice.
Stultifying Himself. Mr. Flryan insists on a s.ngl? standard of morals, yet he ppent the best years of his life arguing for a double standard of money.
