The Friendly Feeling Between Employers and Employes Realized During the Year Just Closed Will Continue During the Coming Year

The New Year has arrived. The youngster ap-i pears full of promise as he takes the place of the old man who has finished his work and steps aside to allow the unfinished work to be carried on by another. Although 1920 faced many problems, it will be remembered as a year of accomplishment. There developed during the past twelve months more friendly feeling between employers and employes than during any other period. And the encouragement inherited by 1921 from 1920 is that

conditions speedier and easier. Employes as well as employers realized that conditions were unnatural and that a readjustment was necessary. At a time when extra production was necessary

to aid the country, employes produced to their fullest capacity. They answered the appeal of the country without a murmur, and they still show a spirit to give whatever real cooperation they can to bring the readjustment period to a close when the country will have returned to a complete normal basis.

This action upon the part of workers, their response to the appeal of a country suffering from a period of high prices and profiteering made possible by a shortage of needed commodities, showed manufacturers and other employers that the workers of the country were ready to cooperate

with them. And when

country had been aided materially by the work of the employers, the latter did not stop but continued to give a full day's labor for a full day's pay. With this issue of The News-Times, this page will be discontinued, for the present at least. What has appeared here has been written in a helpful spirit, with no desire to unjustly criticize. Whether it has accomplished anything worth while, of course, remains to be seen. Anyway, those in charge of the page wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year.
