National Will Allow Use of Delivery Raise Salary of Ileydler. NEW YORK, Dec. 14. The National league at its annual mooting here Tuesday extended for three ytxirs the term of Pres't John A. ileydler and granted him a substantial increase in salary. Pres't Ileydler's present pay is $10,000 a year, and the increase, while it was not odieially stated, is said to have been 5 0 percent, which would make hin annual salary 115.000. The additional three years will make his present
term expire Dec. 31, l'J4. The new agreement with the American league which is to run for 25 years was adopted and formally
signed by each of the eiht clubs and Pres't Ileydler. The nreement was adopted without even the suggestion of an amendment. Ilalso the Pan. The leajrue voted to recommend to the advisory committee created under th new agreement, that 5nit ball players now playinc: in the Icacrue he permitted to use tint de-
I livery until the end of their careers
in the I on true. This action was taken ":s a result of a communication from Pitcher Bill Doak of the St. Iuis club and affects besides himself h't nmntate, Ooodwin, F11Mn?im ar.d 'tudolph of Poston. Douplas of 'New York.' Crimes und Mitchell of
! Prooklyn. Piher of Cincinnati, and
Ilendrix of Chic.-io. Do.ik, in his
communication declared that if the spit ball were barred it would deprive those pitchers of their earning power as players. Pres't Dreyfuss of Pittshurjr was named to act with Pres't Ileydler as a committee to draft the schedule for next season. The 1920 pennant was awr-.rded otlicially to Prooklyn. Name Directors.
The new board of directors elected
includes Aufrust Herrmann of Cin-i cinnati. C. H. Pbbctts of Brooklyn, j EE William I . Baker of Philadelphia, !
and Samuel Preadon of St. Louis. When asked if anything had been done in the Herzog-Ponton contro
versy, Pres't Ileydler said the mat- i ; UT did not come before the meeting. I
He s.iid, however, that the league as 1 u-j a league had nothing against Herzog. ! He s,ud he had investigated to the 1 EEEj limit the charges made by Benton that Herzog had offered a bribe but i v.as unable to get substantiation j E
Personally, Mr. Ileydler said he did i EES not see how tho league could per- j mit the career of a player like ;
Herzog to be ruined by an unsupported statement.
It was also the opinion f tho club j Ser.sible Christn-.as prt seiits are owners that the new r ime would ; isted in cl is-ii. cation '".4-A i:i th-
