THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS Chief Lemuel Occum Fielding, last chief of the proud and ancient tribe that once ruled the entire Indian population of New England. With the Chief are his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Germaine and his son, Everett M. Fielding. Chief Fielding's visit to the National Capital is, first to present the President vith an Indian tea to restore his health and second to secure for the remnants of his race a slice of the business district of Norwich, Conn., valued at about $2,000,000, which he claims was deeded to his tribt by a former Governor of Connecticut in 1830.

INVENTOR OF GERMAN COMBAT PLANES Anthony H. G. Fokker and his wife. Fokker is the inventor of the combat planes used by Germany, the type which was most feared by the Allied aviators. The young inventor has moved his manufacturing plant to Holland since the war. He is in America to inspect the aeroplane factories and to ascertain what market there is for his planes.

AMERICA'S WAR MEMORIAL TO HER SOLDIER DEAD The monument in the form of shafts will be placed on the battlefields in France in memory of American heroes who sacrificed their lives for their country. Center top piece, of the shaft is the work of the American sculptor, Joe Davidson. The American eagle perched on a shell will decorate the shafts to be placed at Verdun, the Argonne, and Soissons in memory of the dead of the First Division.

TALK ACROSS ATLANTIC WITH AMATEUR WIRELESS OUTFIT In a barn at Keyport, N. J., there is a private experimental station, where Hugh Robinson has taught his 15-year-old son Harold, the art of operating: a wireless telephone apparatus. He has been sending out messages carried on various wave lengths and has requested all receivers to answer giving1 their addresses so as to make possible an answer by mail from persons receiving but not having sending apparatus. Answers were received from various points and finally from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 3,5C0 miles away.

NEAR EAST RELIEF HOSPITAL IN WHICH AMERICANS ARE REPORTED HELD The Near East Relief Hospital at Samsoun, a Black Sea port in Asia Minor, where Col. Jas. P. Coombs and other American relief workers are reported to be held as hostages by Mustapha Kemal, leader of the Turkish Nationalists. Though many of the thousands of patients cared for by Dr. George T. Pomeroy. of California, at the hospital during the past year were Turks, Kemal Pasha charges that Armenians have been favored over subjects of the Sultan by relief workers. Dr. Pomeroy is among the hostages.
