Armies require roads and railroads that dally and hourly will b.- hu.s.ed forward icrn replacements, rations, ammunition and FupPlies of all sorts. Airplanes, radio, tebraph and telephone apparatus nro required. Hundreds of factories t'Uist work day and nitrht to supply tlie nf-eds of an army. " Y s.' pays our amateur strate-c-Nr, 'that is nothing new. Wo have had all of that before. We only neod o have the proper persons, just as Lenine calle In Rrussilow. It is nil only a question of organisation and a dictator would quickly have everything running smoothly.' "N'othlmr Is weaker, however, than a comparison with Lenino. Just as
whence it Is al
most impossible to follow them ber nj-e of the lep.rth of the lines of communication. Russia is an lmprej.rnalde world power, thanks to her immense area. She has been unfortunate in nearly all of her wars, and still has Increased in area. Gigantic Tak. "But how do we stand? Lefs take it for granted that the German government, whether red or white, whether radical or reactionary, has agreed 'to lend Russia a healping hand.' The next step, of course, would be to keep the agreement a secret. Workmen, engineers, of'icers would he sent to Russia, to organize a base for an army. Then we would undertake in Germany to train all wervictable men between 20 and 50 years of age; which is in its-elf a cigantlc task even if the men aro all of one political party. This must all bo done under the eyes of the entente commissions, which would soon learn of the plan. It would result in an ultimatum, followed by war. Through volunteers tho German army would be increased to .100,000 men, possibly rOO.000. These twelve to eighteen German divisions would be mobiliized on the eastern border of Germany, where they would occupy the
Polish corridor, arr.id the choen of the population. They would be distributed for a war against Roland, and tlie Russians would attack Poland at the same time from the east. In the meantime tho French have occupied up to the River Rlbo or farther. "Attacked from both sides, let us grant that the Rolish are vanquished. Warsaw fails, and the union of the Russian and German armies is complete. Rut then the war really begins. The Russian-German army would require, to complete recruiting, organization and arming, at least two years under the most favorable circumstances; that Is. with absolute order in Russia, to arrive at anything compared to the Entente troops. "But the entente wouldn't permit time for this, and the Russian-German commanders would be faced by the ally army troops arralnst all tho modern equipment of the entente, or of retreat. The Russians would consider retreat the risht solution. The Germans would desire to rer-onquer Germany. "What tremendous powers of persuasion would it require to convince the Russian soldiers that the war for them had only betrun with the victory over Poland, and that the objective is the Rhine and not the Vistula."
FEMIMNE FOIBLES
Few feminine accessories can trace a history so lengthy and so romantic as the veil which has emeshei in its mystic and piquant charms a true artistry acquired by woman's deft touch and its own adaptibility. Today tho veil has attalred greater voguo than it has enjoyed for a long period of years. All the witchery to which the veil is heir to has been concentrated, it ?ecms, on the new creations which are as
