The signs at the fa?t and west entrances to Mishawaka, erected through the good offices of the civics department of the Mishawaka Woman's club, Mrs. E. D. Ryrkit, chairman, and which had been destroyed by youthful vandals, have again been put in order through the kindness of H. M. Reamer of the Premier Bed Co. The police have been asked to arrent anyone interfering with these signs In the future and boys are to be warned of this. The department has pone to considerable ex pens- In having neat and attractive signs at tho entrances anil is determined to make an example of any boys defacing1 them. The department wishes to call the attention of citizens to th fact thit this is the time of the year for them to take out ah permits. In order that the umdKhtly spots throughout th' ity may be obviated. A permit co-i'n bit little, and the city attemN to the removal of dirt and rubbb-h regularly.

INFANT HANCOCK PIES. Helen, Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dabcock, 1214 S. 13th st.. died Friday after a four days' illness. The child was born Nov. 3. 1920. Funeral services will be held from the residenco this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Officials of the American Railway Co. place a valuation of $200,000 on the plant. The city estimates a bond issue of $ t ri 0,0 0 0 would be required to finance the proposed deal. One

man, It is said, has offered to take one-third of the bond issue. If the city and the American Railways Co. are unable to agree on a price, the city proposes that representatives of the Indiana public service commission come to Goshen and place an appraisement on the property. The situation has become so very serious that the. Goshen Gas Co. must either give consumers a square deal or face the consequences, in the

opinion of city officials and others,

Several months ago the Indiana public service commission raised gas rates here about 40 percent. Special testing equipment tho commission ordered placed in the gas plant has never been Installed. The company asserts failure to get it is due entirely to slow shipments.

Goshen city ordered testing ap-i paratus which, if It ever reaches here, will bo installed in the city building, where a daily test will be 1

made of the quality of gas provided by the company. When the Indiana public service commission conducted a hearing here several months ago on petition of the Goshen Gas Co., in which authority was asked to increase rates about 40 percent, the statement was made that if the boost did not come the syndicate would become bankrupt, so far as the Goshen industry is concerned. The gas plant here was established in 1870. Much of th time It was owned by Goshen residents. The American Railways Co. owns gas plants at Warsaw, Ind., NU es. Mlch. , Cape May, N. J., and fcevera!N other places.
