MEXICO ESTABLISHES COMMERCIAL AGEXCY WITH SOUTH AMERICA
BUENOS AIRES. Nov. With the arrival of the new Mexican minister to Argentina, Jesus Urueta, announcement has been made to the newspapers of the establishment of a commercial agency of the Mexican government in Buenos Aires for the purpose of acquainting Argentine importers with Mexican products and stimulating trade between the two countries. Although welcoming this enterprise. La Ilazon points out that neither Argentina nor Mexico have a merchant marine and that an interchange in trade .between the two countries will have to be carried in llritish or American ships.
GOVERNMENT DEFICIT SHOWN IN STATEMENT
VIENNA. Nov. 7. A deficit government for the current ytar of 13,.'00,0(M) crowns is admitted by tho tinnnce department. Other estimates, however, place it as a much larger figure, in view of the constant demands of state employes for increased wages and allowances which tho government must concede. Replying to a delegation of civil servants the government admtited that there wore 60,000 more employes on the payroll at present than were co .red in the estimates. Also it was confessed that it was next to impossible to reduce the list
; and throw these people Into the
ranks of the unemployed with the apprcach of winter.

I am fully aware that I will meet with the earnest opposition of many of my comradej wjjeri I suggest anallianc with England, which has done everything to destroy us. In spite of it I hazard to recommend an alliance with England on the following grounds: "Politics are not founded on sympathies. That l.s the first b sson that tho honest German should barn from his English cousin. Symphony Orchestra is Greeted by Big Crowd
South Fend showed keen appreciation of its symphony orchestra, conducted by Frederic Ingersoi:. Sunday afternoon, by tilling very available seat in the Rotary room of the Oliver hotel where the concert was held. The orchestra played well in all of its numbers and thsoloist. Miss Florence Guthrie, soprano, deserves much credit for the success of the concert. Miss Guthrie in her opening number, "Time and I" by Cadman, revealed .a voice that i.s very sweet in the lower register. This does not mean that she has trouble with top notes, for she sang one at the close of her second number, "The Eord is My Eight," that came with surprising ease and clearness. Her enunciation was excellent and her popularity with the audience can be measured by the fact that she was forced to respond with a third number. "Com.e Greet the Morn" by Cadman. Helen Guilfoyle showed to particular advantage a an accompanist in this number and her work demands commendation. The orchestra opened its program With the flowing "Wedding Danco Waltz" by 1ineke. The ensemble treatment of this light number was very enjoyable, and Prof. Ingersoll gained ready rcspon.e to every gesture. Perhaps the most appreciated proup on the program was "The Cradle .song" by Kjtrlub, and the "Northern Serenade" by Ols n. F.oth compositions were full of soft clever counter-melodies and beautiful harmony. It might be remarked concerning

The Swedish Wedding March" by Soderiuan with no intent to reflect on the orchestra itself;, that the tympanny introduction and passages w-.uld seem out of place at a oivili a d wedding. The number had the proper attack and phrasing-. Tho well known "Souvenir" by lrdla, well as the ielins kept together, seems out of its element when not given as a violin solo. Considering this fact, the orchestra did very well in the piece. Of the suite by German, the ' Gypsy Fance" showed the orchestra in its best interpretation cf the ecning. The oxepression and runs were very satisfactory.
Prof. Ingersoll announced that it would be necessary to hohl the next concert at some otlir r place than the '
