That's a former doughboy's tribute, and it's true.

Quietly, but effectively, this Greatest Mother is toiling and drudging for you and yours. Though peace is here, She has not forgotten the crippled, blinded remnants of the war in Army and Navy hospitals. To the victims of disaster in war she still brings blessed relief. She does more. She takes to her arms the victims of disaster in peace, the victims of floods, fires, tornadoes and other catastrophes. Over 30,000 such unfortunates were shielded and sheltered by Her this year. In preventing disease through education, in saving lives through rarcful nursing arid by teaching first aid in accidents the Greatest Mother in the World--Your Red Cross is keeping faith with you; keeping faith not only in your own country aye, in your own community but also in devastated foreign lands. Will You keep faith with her. Here's your chance.

That's the slogan for St. Joseph county. There's no need to take a week for such a plain, simple duty. So volunteer your dollar Thursday, November 11. Go to the Red Cross booth nearest you there will be one in every community and enroll yourself in the Red Cross, enlist your dollar in this errand of mercy. The goal for St. Joseph county is 20,000 members. There should be that many, and more. Remember that half of your dollar stays right here at home for the important work which is beng done in this very community. The other half goes to the national work. And less than four cents goes for expenses; the rest all goes for relief. All right, then, everybody
