ATTY. SAM PARKER WILL SPEAK HERE

To Address Women Voters on L-eague of Nations Wednesday Nidit. 0 C7

tt-. San-üiei Parker of South lbnd will address th Woman's i-' .U'u- of oters at the library building next Wednesday evening at s o'clock and will speak on the League of Narlona. Mt. Parker comes t .Mishawaka as representing the democratic party, and will give an Intel lUent interpretation of the covenant b.ujic one of the best posted men in the county on this vital subject. In making the announcement at tho Women's club meeting yesterday af- ! rnoon, Mrs. Kose F. Grimes, president of the league, expressed the v tsh that tho members of the leak'we and all women voters attend the meeting.

. The most discouraging incident of th? downward movement that Henr Ford started that we have noted thus far Is the reduction in silk shirts. . If old BUI Taft can't see that the only way he can vote for the League of Nation Is to vote for Cox, he reeds somebody to lead him about. While the old licker upd to make men drunk, this current bootleg variety hhmhh to make them liars and thieves. . With 5,00 republican spellbinders on the stump. Truth would be foolish to rise again. They'd crush her right back to earth again and might una? her complexion and cave in her bean. ... Another reason why we bank on the intelligence of the electorate is. we feel sure that one voter in every C,000 h-js read the League of Nations covenant. ... An Eskimo papcr'j yearly subscription rate is one sealskin and single copies an erg each. Anyway, there is one editor whosv wife tan sport a sealskin. . There is room for coal now in mcFt of the cellars, but there isn't so much coal. . Judging by the time wasted and

anxiety manifested, several hundred able-bodied guys In South Bend seem to think that their entire furture is hanging on the result of the ball series. The tyranny ef fashion is a tough proposition, but the longer skirt mandate can not be, enforced without a penalty, except among those whoao drumsticks are about the size of a toothbrush handle.

the woods, where he can eat a full

sized onion without encountering the wicked glare of members of his household. . Unless you are a stickler for detail, just put it down that everything good a democrat says of Cox is true and evervthing a republican says af Harding isn't. Politics is politics. . . . Dorothy Dix says marriage develops the best and the worst that is in people. Every wife knows that it has made her a saint and her

husband a selfish and self-centered j rascal. ! . i We suspect if our democratic donkey would bray less and "cough" j more the campaign would function faster. We are the stingiest lot of !

patriots that ever ripped a "Hooray" or clutched a post othce. . The turnip crop is at the fulltide of glory, requiring only a filump in nrices to give it the standing of

The rank and fil haven't sense enough to know it. but every pro-(Jerman has. When selfishness puts itself above country, it J.- worse than lirnorance. Ignorance is at käst struggling forward to the light: selhshnts is greed headed for hell itself. Gov. Cox says Sen. Lodge Is a "narrow-minded bigot." We suppose that is about as hard a name as rjne can call him and observe (ho conventions. But he's worsse than that. ... If the wife wants to appeal tellingly to her husband's reason, she must not forget to begin with a fried chicken and hoe-cake argument. He can be convinced. Any husband will know that woman is amenable to reason if he will use the new fur argument. m . Only 2? days until the glorious triumph of an invincible democracy. . . . If j ou go in for elegance, have sense enough to .combine plenty of simplicity and dignity with it. ... Some Mishawaka scamp knocked down one of Plymouth's elegant electric light posts while motoring through the town at top speed the other day. Me must have drunk too freely from Plymouth's flowing

... Those who think that Mishawaka may go republican ought to be able, to recognize the overwhelming and characteristic democratic tichtwaddishness that we are exhibiting towards the democratic election fund. We are ntlll overwhelmingly democratic. . The big mail order houses of Chicago have made reductions ranging from - to 50 per cent, it is said, but they do not handle corned beef, eggs and butter.
