I low Tt Drop Kick Spectators appreciate It more than any other type of kicking," said Waltfr Eckersall ten years ago. Tho sajne ls true of the drop kick today. It brings tho crowds to their feet. Practice, practice, practice, makes drop kickers. Brickley, of Harvard, once made five In a single game, but Brickley had been drop kicking every day of the year, winter, spring, summer and fall. There are two main ways to hold the ball. One Is with the long axis vertical, left hand on tor., right hand underneath. The other is with one hand on each side. Rut the main thing is to see that it strikes the ground right. It Fhould strike the ground in an almost vertical position, face toward the goal, top slanting slightly toward the kicker. There are two ways to kick ItEither hit it below the center with the toe of tho shoe at tho very instant that It strikes the ground, or catch it In the instep at tho instant that It rises. The former is better, most coaches say. Take pood aim. Keep your eye on the goal posts.
