September 27th, presided over by a Hoard of United Stat a armv engineers at which arguments were presented by Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky shipper?, as to the necessity of a barge, canal to augment transportation facilities. Various rout's are proposed lo connect the Ohio liiver with the Great Iakes. Cincinnati and Toledo. Arguments were prt. entfl setting- forth reasons 7'hy th'ase cities should be the respective terminals of tho canal with a branch extending northwest from Defiance, Ohio, via Fort Wayne to Lake Michigan or tho Northern route as it is called, this being considered tho most logical. Advocates of the other routes also presented arguments, the Hoard of Knglneers questioning them frequently us to statements made. IIA STUART II. CAItltOLL. Constantine is one of those little southern Michigan towns where boys and girls prow up to be good citizens, and while still at a tender ago listen to the lure ef the Dig City whero dang!.. rhcir rainbow of dream?. It is a pretty little village and a .good little place.' Also it is the home rjf Richard Randman and Mildred Prester., about whom this story especially i. concerned. Richard is enly 13 years of age while Mildred Is a year older. They proved to the world that love lingers equally In the little old hometown as it Is aiid to linger in tht Dig Time Land of Jazz. And Why? And why shouldn't they have loved? Consider Richard with his brown, curly hair through which any maiden might wish to run her dainty fingers. And his eyes of tho same color wistful eyes, which might speak phrases of more delicatw shading than could the r?n of any old master whoso works ho pored over at tho village high school. Consider Mildred with her wavy locks of brown and eye.- of a delicate blue. Picture her in her best waist of light blue, her dainty white skirt and a charming sweater of a darker blue. She might adorn any magazine's expensive cover. Folk Don't Understand. So why shouldn't they have loved? Hut grown folks never understand thrse things. And no one ever id thoughtful enough to shovel ashes on the slippery path of true love. So Richard ana the fair Mildred ran away from their home in the sleepy Michigan town and no one knows where thry are. J. M. Randman. tho father of the young Lothario, has appealed to the police in South Bend to aid in the search. And thus ends tho first act of their playlet. CARD Ol-" THANKS. We hereby wish to express our sincere thanks to all of our neighbors, friends and relatives for tho many acts of kindness and the lloral offerings; also the sympathy extended to us during the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. No bov likes to be constantly taken to task because his clothes look shabby quickly, because they rip readily, because the fabrics become shiny and the colors dull. Of course these things happen to boys1 clothes, but when thev do, more likelv it's the clothes' fault radier than the bov's. Well tailored clothes won't wrinkle out of shape or tear with ease. Good fabrics don't get shiny or the colors dull. We make no more apologies for boys' clothes than for men's, because they're tailored as well from equally good fabrics.
We don't believe in poor quality and
making the boy the goat.
