T.y United Tress: CHICAOO, Aug. 13. A veritable cloudburst on the south 'side early today drowned the Friday the loth jynx on at least two occasions. Firo which destroyed five dwellings was rapidly getting beyond control of the firemen when a torrential rain put out the flames. Andrew Chepania. a farmer of Oarj'. Ind.. drove a motor truck loaded with fruit and vegetables into Chicago. The heavy rain forced him to seek shelter in bis in.rlc's house. Just as he entered the building the truck was shattered by a blast of dynamite. Police believe business rivals planted a bomb.

Machine on IS'iles Rd. Causes Much Excitement Among Motorists.

An unidentified Ford caused a great amount of excitement for motorists on the Niles road near the state line. The driver who had been using one arm lost control of his car and the raachine roiled over into the ditch. When the car turned over it was found that only one of the occupants was slightly injured in the accident. The Ford received a broken wind shield.
