If an embargo on exports will avert the threatened dantT of a coal famine, .'tffctint both tho factory and home, it is fully justified and should be ricridly enforced. The Iirltish government is contemplating a strict limitation of that countrj-'s coal exports, which have figured as a larter item in the tradn if Urltain than have this country's exports in American trade. Strenuous times suggest the application of strenuous measures, and one of these may be a temporary, or even recurring, embargo on coal exports.

FOREIGN TRADE Coal Embargo

Dispassionate fairness, which neither the exporters, ship owners and coal operators nor the general publb' will find eay to aehU-ve, is necrssary in the consideration of the embargo on coal exports urged to relieve tho donwstk- shortage of fuel. Doth siiks to the controversy present strong arguments. For the exporters it may be said that losses to sliip owners whose vessels are ngagel in the coal carrying trade, as well as loss of priV'Ua to the exporting companies themselves, wouM be immense. The los3 to the Shipi"ng board and priatf nvners throviyh ships delayed In port or thrown out of employment is much nioro regrettable than the loss of profit, admittedly extortionate, wrung from the necessities of for-eign coinitries. Of moreweight than 'ither of these considerations is the industrial loss to such countries as Italy, which depend almost wholly or principally

Every week there are dozens of people drive through beautiful Marquette Park and mentally picture their home in this or that location. Every single one of you folks are most welcome. We want you to visit Marquette Park and we want you to think of it as the place where you will live. But in justice to you, we feel duty bound to warn you that the most desirable lots are selling most rapidly. Frankly, there has been more interest manifested in Marquette Park during the six months than in any other tract of land in or near South Bend. This rapidly growing interest has resulted in a goodly number of sales. And naturally, every time a lot is sold, the desirable sites are diminished just that much. There are no "Sold" tags or signs on the lots in Marquette Park that are already purchased. But if you will ask to look at one of the plats, you will find that a big majority of the lots are already sold. You will

be surprised at the number of your friends and acquaintances who have already bought in Marquette Park. Last week a price increase became effective. It was absolutely necessary due to increased costs. To the people who took advantage of the opportunity, a substantial saving was effected. And in all sincerity, we state that another increase is imperative before long. We have kept faith. We have played fair. We have warned of every increase. And if you have not turned these price increases into a profit for yourself, you have only yourself to blame. Naturally as the unsold lots decrease in number, the value of those sold automatically increases. The last lot in Marquette Park will be worth just about what the owner cares to ask for it. After that every purchaser must pay some one who had the foresight to buy at the right time, a premium for living in this beautiful addition.

Select your lot just as soon as you can. The one you have mentally reserved may already be sold. Call our office and we'll arrange to take you out to Marquette Park at your convenience. But by all means, don't pay another increase as a result of negligence or delay. tX
