Send Out Call For Thirty Single Ex-Service Men.
Two more men were accepted at tho ioml army recruiting station YVodnes-day. They are Emile Jeffries of Mlshawaka and Kverett Andrews of Hibbarri. Ind. Jeffries will po to tho Model school at Camp Grant, III., and Andrews will go to the air forvice with station in the Philippines. This makes a total of 13 men accepted sinc e tho 12th of the month .it the local station. As the number of enlistments in tho army have been preatly in-re-a.M-.i, a call has boon sent out for 30 single ex-service men who wore discharged with excellent charactors. Thcsv men are needed in the Indianapolis district and should apply at tho army recruiting office at once. ()n stenographer and two clerks are also needed In this district. Michigan Clots Ouota.

In hiding somewhere near South Bend today, dres-scd in the uniform of a soldier and carrying a revolver, is a man who attempted late Wednesday ni?ht to perpetrate a crime which makes lynching popular in sections of this country. Three miles out on the Niles road Wednesday night a young man and woman were riding on a motorcycle. As they approached the crossroad und stopped to turn around, a man approached from the fide, pointed a gun at them and eaid: 'I want this girl to come with me. and tome quick." Frightened, the girl stepped from th. motorcycle while her escort looked en. I land it Vscs Gun. With the gun pointed at her breast the bandit compelled her to walk down the crossroad toward the woods which skirt the river nearby. "If you don't hurry I'll kill you," the man reiterated as they walked. They had gone perhaps 50 yards v. hen the girl turned and screamed for help. Tho captor gave one look and as the girl cemtinued to scream, tu . ed anel fled into the dense underbrush near the road.
