The Consolidated Mica Company obtains its crude Mica from 420 acres of Mica bearing land in Randolph, County Alabama. These 420 acres are owned bv the Consolidated Mica Company in fee simple, free of all incumbrance. The Consolidated Mica Company's holding at the present time are valued by conservative appraisals far in excess of the outstanding stock. The Consolidated Mica Company's Mica Products Manufacturing Plant located at Olive and Indiana Sts. cost the government over $100,000.00 exclusive of the main buildings. Watch for Number Six The following extracts are taken from reliable reports, originals of which are in the files of the Consolidated Mica Company. Department of the Interior U. S. Geological Survey Bulletin 666X. "Mica is valuable on account of its cleavage, flexibility, elasticity and non-conductivity of heat and electricity. A combination of properties in which it is unsurpassed by any other material. The extensive employment of Mica in electric appliances requires a large quantity in the aggregate, although the quantity used in a lamp socket, for example, is small. The imports of sheet mica exceed the domestic output in both quantity and value. Department of the Interior U. S. Geological Survey, by Waldemare Schaller. Mica in 1917: "Owing to the restrictions imposed on the importation of Mica the question has arisen whether the entire demand of the country can be supplied by the domestic production. This question can not be definitely answered at present but there seems to be grave doubts as to the domestic output being sufficiently increased." Department of the Interior U. S. Geological Survey Mica in 1918, Pages 652-665: "These properties make Mica indispensable in the electrical industry wfhich consumes most of the sheet Mica mined. The enormous expansion of the electrical industry has been furthered notably by the unique properties possessed by M ica. The development of wireless telegraphy of automobie trucks and of airplanes could have been accomplished only by the use of Mica. The recent invention doing away with the large and high receiving and transmitting towers for wireless stations is dependent upon the use of condensers in which Mica is one of the essential components. "The future development of deposits of Mica depends in part on the answer to the question as to whether or not the substitutes for Mica will ever completely replace the natural mineral. So far as known there is no known satisfactory substitute for sheet Mica in electrical insulation. The operator of any deposit of sheet Mica therefore need not fear the competition of any artificial substitute.

Mica is used in a great many industries. Its greatest consumption is in the electrical field where it is used as an insulator. There is no suitable substitute for Mica in die electrical industry and with the steadily increasing growth necessitating insula' in against constantly increasing voltages the demand for good Mica must necessarily also increase. The Mica produced from the Alabama properties of the Consolidated Mica Company is of the Muscovite variety. Labratory tests show that its quality is second to none.
