CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ISSUES FIRST REPORT
Testimony of Special Detectives! Moritz and Mclntyre, given in the j
ras against Cyriel Van Stanlesks. charred with the unlawful po5session and sale of liquor, in city court Monday did not correspond with memorandums made by them at the tim-- of the arrest. The two special detectives, selected by Chief of Police Kline to Und liquor law violators, tola the court that they bought liquor from Van Stanicske himself. The bottle in which they had placed the evidence had a babel on which- was written in Detrctlve Morltz's handwriting a description of the man from whom they had bought the liquor. It corresponded to the description of the bartender instead of that of the owner. Moritz admitted to having written the description, but could not explain It. The defense put on several witnesses who said that the owner of the place was playing pool at the time the two detectives were in the place and that he did not sell them any liquor. Special Judge Houlihan took tho caso under advisement.
