Inquiry reveaied that the Michigan Av, Iuml'r Co., which furnished the material for th hous holds a lien on the buildings und'T construction and that th- allecre-d duped victims hold nothing but wurthlo-.s Iapr. An tndicnation meeting of the victims Indicated that individuals rave Hurnham sums ranging from J 100 to s.-.oo and Inquiry at hi residence oi Iincoln wuy V. showed that liousehold furniture purchased at bailor's wn still there but other personal property including a newly purchased Nash automobile was missing. Further allopcd methods of duping his victims hive been brought to light including a. proposed bond isue of 175,000 which one victim :..is b claimed was underwritten I y one local bank. It has been karnd that Hurnham approached th bank officials on the proposition but the latter refused to handle the Ix.nd i.isuc. Other forms of alleged underhanded deals ,ind speculations havf been un'arthed and investigations conducted by three different parties show that Hurnham wa-s caught redhanded and as a final :na?ure was forced to tlee the city.
