Th bob-whit in brown and white From p'ep of dawn to shades of nitrht. Calls "p.-.b White'.- all the day To hr of the thicket not far away. The kanparoo a handsome swain Amhhs away hy Kap and bound ( ivcr and by and round and round Her of his heart, doth the kangaroo. The turkey pobbkr in blue and red And purple beads and crimson head, Fnfolds his tail in fine array Like a gonfalon on a gala day. And all this fuss and feathers and d!n And cavortinj? and strutting to-win. Coy, elusive, enticing V'ou From hermit crab and kanparoo "The female of the species" you! Hut they do it differently away down there In P.echuannaland where The Southern Cross Illumes the night, And by day the sizzllns eun burns copper bright. They do it better in Bechuannaland, South Africa. There In that land of h.it and Rlare The dusky swain in the bare Gloss of veil oiled glistening skin. When he fares forth a wifo to win, Kschews good raiment noise and din Antics cavortlnp and fine array. And drives alonp a cow and a calf and bullock or two. When he fares forth to woo. And sleek black daddy of winsome she. He strokes his whiskers, doth sleekdaddy. And scans the herd, doth he. And if he deems the herd to be Ample pay for a dusky bride. The lover takes her unto his side. Put we of the North be it confess'd To win our fair one bless'd Take the double route, we do, Of the hermit crab and the kanparoo. We buy her furs and a diamond or two And pledce her breakfast in bed her whole life thru.

When we fare forth to woo. Oh Pet huann.tland inir and hot Ind of the shiny hotintot! Your open sordid commercial way Is at least quite frank and quite au fait And not unlike the hlcrh-toned way Which oft doth rule high society. For oft doth the lover buy his bride. And oft doth dear daddy buy a monocled duke, Py wavinir aloft his golden fluke. So finally: Here's to you! Hermit crao and kangaroo! You travel on your shape at least, you do, Hermit crab and kangaroo!

NEW YORK, April 21. They seem to have tried everything in this season's fashions except a raisin. All countries and all periods have been conglomerated and stirred up together with the result that you can wear almost anything or nothing and be in style. The craze for things Egyptian confines itself mostly to head rescs hats, evening gowns and wraps. Close fitting turbans b-jew-t led nnd Jetted are almost replicas of Cleopatra's bet Nile-going bonnets and straight lined evening gowns of old Egyptian blue satin heavily embroidered down the straight front panels in lotos scarab and ibis deisgns are bright with gay hues and metallic thread.:. The Chinese influence is also no-

ery also plays a big part in gown embellishment. As for the Romanian. Checlfö-Slav and Palkan touches they waste no time in splashing all their gay wool embroideries over the waists of the moment: Th? frocks of black Chantllly lace, one flounce above the other to make the skirts, fairly reek of Hispanola. the land of the cas-tinet and the bull. The black lace draped hats, boleros and tight black velvet bodices all have a decided Madrid or Seville flavor. As for the periods they stretch from P. C. to A. W. with everything from Grecian draperies to Louis Qulnze hoop fkirts and Victorian polonaise and bustles. Rustic to the Fore. Indeed th bustle is backing to the fore with amazing persistency and promises to break the straight lines of our beloved one piece models more effectively than even have th panniers. The tiht todiced, bouffant nanniered frocks have indeed almost become an old story so generally accept are they by those who can wear them but now the bustle with new old novelty threatens to back them off the fash

ionable boards. Whether in Mack of beitre taffeta for day time wear or in rose and silver brocade for evening the bustle frock is a quaint and attractive delight. It invariably is made with a snu bodice which usually buttons down the front like an old time basque and the sleeveg are nothing more than a hint or a Fuggestion. Sheer white fichus cf -organdie or batiste finish the low cut necks of the taffeta bo Rees on both the bustle and the pannier gowns. It is truly a golden age of fashion, dear alike to the hearts of the slim, th fat. tho old, the young and the dark or fair. There's a style for every type and just go you hit on the one best adapted to you, why everything's lovely.
