make up the deficiency hy sendinp men what ithers full stock. out with seines to pet were necessary for a The Indiana fishermen should feci gratified to know that things have finally reached a point where our state department incumbents show a spirit of doing things right. Our chief of the fish and game department should be backed up by every advocate of fish conservation in the state in this matter. When, if ever were the real supporters of this department given such encouragement to help the state to lo some real benehrial work. The sportsman of Marion and surrounding countis last fall donated over 7 0 breeders to the state hatchery showing thereby that the right spirit already prevails in some localities and I have no doubt but what they will repeat the performance this spring. All of which shows that we have reason for rejoicing at the way things are being done in our state of late. Any risherman who considers himself a sportsman will want to have his name among those who can say, "I've got at least one fish at the hatchery' working to help make the pastime of angling a little better in Indiana." If you will but try It once you will forccr feel like a different person. It sc ems to give the .angler a new and different side of the sport of fishing. There Is something fascinatirg about catching a good sizeable bass but it Is nothing compared to the feeling one has when he rinds himself carrying this same beautiful b iss out to the fish hatchery and there has the sensation of turning him into the ponds as one that will be the cause of producing many thousands of young with which the state restocks our fctate waters. I know of fishermen who really never take home a bass which is fit for ! a breeder, preferring at all times to i release it in the ponds of the hatchery.' If there was .some way by which we could make a real sportsman out of even angler I believe the time would come when you would have to hide behind a big rock every time you baited your hook. There always has been something about spring- fishing that made a An Evening of Jazz and Jollity Elks Temple
