BURSTS THEORY OF SATURATION POINT FOR AUTOMOBILES
Government Authority Says People Are Buying '"Transportation" TS'ot Merely Cars. WASHINGTON. March 20. How many mure motor cars will the American pfople be able to buy? Annually the olJ story about the saturation point in motor car production makes Its round.-". Snow time Is generally when the pencil sharps produce their f.surcs. They have it all worked out according to population, per capita wealth, number of cars now Jn use and number estimated for the year. According to these paper experts year by year we are in danger of flooding the market with cars. Kverything is based on the income of the individual. Says the Slmrps Are Wrong. A government authority asserted today that the sharps are all wrong and he proceeded to tell why, in his Judgment, they are wrong. "The demand for cars no longer rests upon the amount of income an individual has per year," he asserted. "Motor cars are bought because they are needed and because they will pay an interest on the investment. People are buying transportation and In purchasing it they ilgure what the car will earn for them in a year, whether it be convenience, money or merely pleasure. All of these things have a cash value and if the motor car will bring in
! a greater return than some other
article the car is bought. South Oiwniing; Up. "As road conditions continue to improve in different sections of the country automobile salev Increase. This is borne out by the fact that, up to a couple of years ago, the south was considered but a fair market for automobiles. The middle western states, where road conditions were pood, led in motor car sales. Today the south Is opening up a one of the best markets for motor cars. This Is not due alone to the prosperity of that section öf the country though, of course, this has something to do with it, but because the number of miles of improved highways is rapidly increasing. The absorption of motor cars in the south is rapidly Increasing."

For Your Week-End
During the Summer
The News-Times has through the courtesy of the B. F. Goodrich Rubber Co. arranged to publish each Sunday complete details of the route for a motor trip to some nearby point of interest. The first of these weekly tours will be published in the automobile section of The News-Times on Sunday, April 4. The list of tours includes trips to lakes, historical places, cities and interesting spots within a radius of 200 miles from South Bend. It is suggested that motorists clip out these tours as they appear in The News-Times to be saved for future reference, thus making an interesting
scrap-book of trips that may be made at any time. The addition of this new feature to an already bright and snappy automobile section is another proof that The News-Times is the Best Automobile Advertising Medium In Northern Indiana Another proof comes from advertisers, themselves, who placed 22,814 inches of automobile advertising in Hie News-Times in six months 155,722 lines more than that carried by its competitor during the same period.
