NT7W YOIU, March 0. "No compree" is going to be a handy expression for Georges Carpentler. With a French' Fhmg of his French shoulders, a blank stare on his scarlesn face and the attitude of a lest she-pp, the European heavy. weißht champion will have a good refense apainst the mob that oes down to th dock this munth to "get him." Most of those who rush the gates and kret by the customs officials for . real close up of OeorgM anil his bride will want to know when, where and why ho is Koin to tight Jack DempBpy. Trie tilm men will be askin? him if ho knows how to putty his nose, pencil his eyebrows, oil his locks, etc. Jack Curley will bo there to learn if he knows enough Yank lunKuaßo to tell his vaudeville audiences a few t-tories. There will bo just the hangers-on with the bromidic line of interview shots "Whaddve think of America?" "How dye like married life?" "D'yuh think yull win?" All the business men who want the champion in on a pet-rich-qulck scheme will be singing in chorus "How much?" Dan Morgan, Paddy Mullins and others of serious mien, who live by steering some of America's braves away from the snares and pitfalls of the ring, will be in the crowd. Maybe Georges can't "parley vous" America, but he won't lose anything by It. iiitovK kaskktbaMj snnrKs. PHrL.ADEL.PH I A. March 9. SYNDICATE PLANS ERECT 10 N OF NEW COPPER REFINERY
NEWTON A HOT, England, March 9. This little town has been choen as the site for the first electrolytic copper refinery in Great Hritain. to cost 10,ouo.ooo. The war revealed the fact that there was no refiners' of this kind in Great Pritain. The nonferrous trades committee, formed by the government, strongly recommended a plant capable of producing loO.OÖO tons of copper should be established in the United Kingdom for which, as far as possible, Pritish copper in blister form should be used. The government promised financial as-lstance If required, and Sir Gerard Müntz, a member of a big West Ilromwich copper linn, who was chairman of the committee, now heads a syndicate which will erect the raw copper rePning plant. At Newton Abbot then are tide water facilities. In addition to a bed of over 800.OCO.000 tons of lignite for the generation of electricity at a very low cost.

This announcement should receive careful consideration in every household and every business place in the city of South Bend. We have purchased the business of the Independent Ice Company and the Archer Ice Company and have consolidated the business at our plant on N. Emerick St. This makes our company one of the strongest and best equipped in the state. It is a guarantee of a never failing supply of pure artificial ice to all ice users. It means a greatly enlarged and improved delivery system under scientific management. This is a body blow to Old High Cost of Living" as it cuts out waste in duplication of service. And is an assurance against a radical increase in prices. We have made many important announcements before but this is the most important in every way that has ever been made by the local ice industry. All customers of the Independent and Archer Ice companies should telephone their orders to our office where they will receive prompt attention. We are prepared to take care of any demand.
