Charles R. Rentel, aged ",?,, resident of Indiana for 10 years, died at S o'clock Saturday evening at his home near "Woodland, following a three days' Illness due to hemorrage of the brain. Funeral arrangements will be announced Sunday. Mr. Rentel was born Feb. 13, IS , in Wurbernburg, Germany, and came to this country while a youth. He was married In South Rend in 1870 to Catherine Monaweck. He is survived by six children: Clara Rentel. Mrs. R. Kline, of Madison township; Mrs. Frederick Ceigher, Mrs. Kzra .Sells, of Union township; Mrs. Rimer Taylor, of Lakeville, Ind.; Mrs. J. K. Winehell, of Ratle Creek, and. one sister, Mrs. William Dressier, of South Rend. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren.

at tiii: tk.mrli: today John Rarrymore, one of the most popular actors on the American stage, fs a Paramount star, he having made Iiis hr.st appearance under his new contract with tho Famous Play-ers-Lasky corporation in "On tho Quiet" in September, 1918. His latest photoplay, "Here Comes the Rrlde," which is showing at the Temple theatr- today, is the second of four pictures in which he is to appear this season. The popularity of Mr. Rarrymore, not to speak of the excellence of his new starring vehicle, should make this photoplay a sure winner for up-to-date exhibitors.
An auto driven by William Shear, who resides on a farm this Fide of Bremen, was hit yesterday afternoon by the 4:35 west bound interurban ut tho Intersection of Union and Fourth sts. The machine was considerably damaged and two of the occupants injured. According to witnesses, the interurban failed to conform with the rules of tho city and railway company by not stopping at the crossing. It is a bad place, it being impossible for motorists to glance down tho tracks In either direction. On account of this the- corner has been made a safety Btop crossing and all cars are supposed to stop, regardless of whether or not any passengers wish to get off or on.
Mr. Shear, his wife and two daughters, Stella and Nelma, were on their wny homo at the time of tho accident. Not seeing the oncoming car, Mr. Shear drove his machine in front of it and proceeded to turn up Fourth .t. Roth Mr. Shear and his wife
were hurt. They were taken in the ambulance to St. Joseph's hospital where they received medical attention. She was badly bruised about tho hips and he received a number cf minor cuts and bruises. , An Inve-stigratlon is to be made.
Mrs. Man" R- Pfleeper. resident of Mlshawaka since 1504, died late Saturday night at her home, 820 R. Fourth St., following a tn days' illness. Death was from complications. The funeral will ,p, held Tu e. day afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Rev. Ii. Earle Parker, D. D.. will officiate Ruri.il will be made in Fairmont cemetery. The remains may be viewed up until the hour of funeral. Mrs. Tfleeger was born in Wawakee. Ind.. Sept. 12. 1 S61 and lived there until the time of her moval to this city. Her maiden name was Mary Stuff and she wn.s married in 1SS9 to Martin L. Pfleeger at Sac City. Ia. She Is survived by her husband, son, Lo; daughter, Mrs. Claude Farrell of Joliet, 111.: and four brothers, William, Rcrt, Vern and Frank of this city.
