On' hundred-eighty thousand dollars damages are asked in 12 casrts against the lirector general of railroads venued from the Laporte cireuit court to the St. Joseph circuit court Monday. Action was brought in the Daporte court beenuse of the death and injury of 12 children on April IS. when they were crossing the Grand Trunk railway tracks going from the school at Kingsbury to their homes. The wagon in which the children were traveling was covered and the complaints against the railway say no whistle, bell or other warning was given of the approach of the train with the exception of the danger whistle which wps said to have b"en given too lute to avoid the collision. Damagrs Askel. Six of the 12 chilJrer., ranging fr m five to 14 years, were instantly killed, while the other six nere permanently injured. The complaints of the cases stale in each case of an injured child, that complete recovery is not expected the rest of their natural lives. In the case of each death $10,000 damages are asked, while $20,000 is asked in tho case of each injured child. Thoe instantly killed were Hazel Krrgel, 12 years old; Inez Robins, 11 years old; "Winifred Condon, 14 years old; Eveln Harris, nino years old; "William Kenneth Schmitz, 'x years old and Irene Wilt, 13 years old. Tho injured one3 were Beulah Hanson, 11 years old; Richard Harris, eight years old; Kdna Wildt, 11 years old; Donald Wildt, nine years old; Lois Johnson, five years old and Gordon Harris, six years old. ilaker, McClanahan and Christian of Chicago are the attorneys for the plaintiffs in each case.
