With seven monogram men eligible and over CO others battling for positions on the squad, it is felt that the maroon and white will have an aggregation of gridiron .-tars that will make a nam for the school. Efforts are being made to secure a game with South Bend for Saturday, Sept. 27. Reports from the neighboring school show that institution to be as full of alibis as In former years. It was believed that the local team would be the lightest that has ever represented the school, but the addition of s eral heavy men to the long list of candidates, makes tho pro-season estimate, of the average weight at about 155 pounds. BOARD OF WORKS MITT. No remonstrances were made on the Chalotte 5t. curbing, grading and sidewalking at the hearing Monday at the meeting of the board of pubic works. Bids were received for the work. The contract was ,?iven to Fred Coiporan, his figure being 13 cents per square foot. The estimated cost of the work is $1,57S. No remonstrances were made on tho opening of W. Thirteenth st. Bids for tho sidewalk on N. Main St.. from the Grand Trunk railway to Jefferson St., were opened. The contract was awarded to Fred Corporan. He also received the contract for the building of a sidewalk on Jefferson av. between Main and Sarah sts. The New York Central Railroad Co. is installing a. new water connection rear Short st. E. L. .Mason furnished a bond of $200 for tho use of the city water hydrants. A jjidewalk was ordered at the intersection of Short and Third sts. MARRIED R' JVSTICR Wallace I Roocher and Mabel M. Richter, both residing south of the city, were married by Judge Wypzlnskl, of South Bend. The bride is the daughter of Mr- and Mrs. Charles Richter. She wore a dress of blue crepe-de-chine, and the groom his army uniform. The couple is well known in the vicinity. They will reside on a farm south of town.
