In July The News-Times carried 13,5 10 more lines of display advertising than its competitor. For a year The News-Times has been making consistent gains over The Tribune, but the August showing is a record breaker. In the single month, which is, by the wav, the poorest advertising month of the entire year, THE NEWS-TIMES CARRIED IN EXCESS OF THE TRIBUNE A TOTAL OF 48,603 LINES OF DISPLAY ADVERTISING COPY. This is an excess of approximately 3,500 inches. There is but one explanation for the growing popularity of The NewsJimes as the advertising medium in this field. This newspaper has come to
know and realize the value of serving the advertiser. The News-Times has instituted a Service Department, which more and more each day the advertiser has come to appreciate and employ in many different ways. r The growing circulation of The News-Times and its constantly gaining prestige as a real progressive newspaper that has the vision of the South Bend of the future have been other strong factors, we believe, in this success. And encouraged by these gratifying advertising gains from month to month, the entire News-Times organization shall work together for still greater gains in the months and years to come, trying at all times to satisfy and serve.
