Announcement, that the government would fix a schedule of prices

of the purchase of lower grades of'

wheat than No. 1 his been received with much gratification by the farmers An unusually larp? percentape of this year's crop some estimates put the ;4mount at 66 percent will Krad, below No. 1, while having a hiph mllllnp value The new schedule will tend to raise prices for inferior grades, and truly reflect their utility. It is the only just solution of th dilllculty to which the universal fa iters' protest called attention. Prjc uill be fixed "as near the No. 1 prrade is the character of the crop warrants," assures Julius I JamesTo Irtvld I Protection. Th" house amendment to extend the Iever food control act to containers ot food, to feed and fertilizers, implements used in the production of necessaries, and clothinp merits approval from rural constituents. It is designed to afford a dopree of protection that mipht result in savlnp millions of dollars. The food control act. however, becomes inoperative with the formal declaration of peace and its usefulness, however amended, mipht be short-lived. The department of apriculturo has recently taken steps to protect the farmer in the purchase of fertilizer by declaring that a shortage of acid phosphate does not justify existinp prices, and that miners and manufacturers must not

advance present figure without submitting oata as to costs of production since June. 191?. Kconomy One Wav Out. A prominent Louisville firm has mmented upon the need for increased production In words that deserve repetition: "As to the price fdtuatlon farmers are seriously perplexed at beinp called tipon to raise larcer crops in order that the cost of livint: may be reduced for dwellers in the towns and cities, -while the latter in many Instances are orprunizinK and striving to reduce workinp hours and advance waprs, which can only result in increaslnp the cost of wares the farmer must buy and also drawinp farm labor to factory rmployment. thereby advancinp farm costs. "The way out the patriotic way out the common-pense way out of the present troublesome and, to tome extent. artificial era and plapue of excessive prices, is increased production, economy and thrift by city and country people alik. in the interests of the whole community." More Daylight Savins. A cam pa ie;n has been started to put daylipht saving- in force locally. The National Daylipht Savinp association has been formed in New York to keep the issue alive, with a iew later possibi? to action reversing the repeal or obtaininp state action. An ordinance will be presented to the New York board of aldermen, establishir p daylipht savinp. it is said. 'One urbanite suppests that city people pet up one hour earlier

than usual without chanpinp the clock after the repeal takes effect. The farmer would doubtless recommend this early rislnp to the city dweller, knowinp from experience that its effects are salutary-

WE LIKE to answer that question because the COFFIELD has so many excellent features to bring the greatest of washday happiness. There is a large copper tub, for instance, designed not only to clean a large amonut of clothes quickly and thoroughly, but to clean itself also. It is a simple matter to keep the COFFIELD spotless. And there isn't a single thing about the tub that has to be lifted, nor anything to tear the clothes. Then again, there is the wringer large enough ( 1 2 inches to be exact) to permit the passage of bulky things like blankets. It can be swung in any position and tightly locked. Its drain board, clothes chute and water shutter (of exclusive design) keeps washing from becoming a messy job. And speedy? The tub and wringer can be operated at the same time because the COFFIELD is equipped with a -Horse Power General Electric Motor.
