INDIANAPOLIS. Aujf. 20. How hundreds of cattle, beinR boupht at

mission in th- in. diral corua of tholthls time by Indiana farmers, for

feeding purposes, and particularly how calves may be saved from the ravages of stock yards or shipping fever, was pointed out today by Dr. L. L Northrup, state veterinarian, who 'recommends a simple, inex-

atj pensive treatment of all shipped cat

tle, at stock yards and upon their arrival at the. farm. This Is the season. Dr. Northrup &ays, when Indiana farmers are buying shipped cattle in unusual numbers, for feeding through the fall and winter months. These cattle almost invariably are exposed to the shipping fever, when they mingle with other livestock. Ho asserts that the btate and national stock yards abound with the bacilli which produces tho fever Frequently, he adds, from eight to 10 of a bunch

! of cattle suffer fatal illness from

exposure. "The treatment is simple and certain." Dr. Northrup says, "It is t.0 inexpensive that no farmer can afford to take a chance of losing even a single head of his feeders. It is a vaccination that his proved 100 per cent, cfticient in Indiana. "The only reason the Indiana livestock sanitary board doesn't undertake to enforce this vaccination is that it happens not infrequently that a buyer holds shipped tattle- only
