r thousand Czecho-SlovuTc veterans of the world war. invalided home from lighting in Siberia, paraded up Pennsylvania av.. late Frid.iyand were reviewed by Pres't Wilson in front of the white house. It was the largest procession of foreign fighting troops the American capital had seen and the. most picturesque. All veterans of five years lighting, the eldest a man of 70 with stooped shoulders and venerable beard, the youngest were only lads. The veterans, who came across the Pacific on their way homeward, and who will sail from Newport News Sunday on their way to Bohemia, arrived early today on special trains and were quartered at Camp Meigs. Wil.HOn Reviews Troops. The troops were reviewed from the portico of the white house by Pres't Wilson, who delivered a short address. congratulating them on their achievements. The president expressed the hope that the veterans might keep in mind as they returned to their home land that the laws of God. the laws of men and the laws of nature reHiire systematic order and cool counsel for their proper application md development, and for the welfare and happiness of the human race. With the president en the portico as the. soldiers marched by were Charles Pe.-gler, Czecho-Slovak commissioner tz the United States; Col. Hurdarr, n'il.'irry attache, and several ia-: I?an "ai,j officers and officials. Afte. tr, column had passed bv tn reviewing officials. H turned ton-, a.i 1 the veterans lined up bef:r the president. Addresses Military Men. "It gives me treat pleasure." said the president in addressing the military representatives of the new nation. "o have this opportunity to review tnis detachment of your valiant army, and to extend to you, its officers and the brave men associated with you, a most cordial welcome. Though we have been far away, we have watched your actions and have been moved by admiration of the services you have rendered under the most adverse circumstances. "Having been subjected to an alien control you were fired by a love of your former independence and for the institutions of your native land, and gallantly aligned yourselves with those who fought in opposition to all despotism and military autocracy. "At the moment when adversity came to the armies with which you were fighting and when darkness and discouragement cast a shadow upon your cause, you declined to be daunted by circumstarrces and retained your gallant hope. Your
i the identity" of the nation.
The resolution .said in part: "As it is a misnomer to apply! 'foreign to Ireland, where the Hi- j bernians are involved, so it might' sound strange to include our own beloved nation under the classlfica-j tion, were it not that late- complica- j tions leave one somewhat doubtful whether we are justly entitled to call : the United States our own. or whether we are mere tenants on i t
rented land. ' The society v!ews with misgivings certain tendencies which have lately caused uneasiness in the disturber breasts of many patriotic citzens of this glorious republic. "So the order wishes to go on record as unswervingly opposed to any pact, treaty or compromise which might tempt any one to imagine that we have merged our identity or surrendered one inch of the independence, for which our fathers and so many members fought yid bled." ..

Theres magic in the word "Adixondacks." It's the spirit of our pioneer ancestors calling us back to Nature. It's the urge of the trails through the woods, by the lakes, over the hills. It's the dip of tlv; paddle, the song of the reel, the scent of the pine. It's forgetfulness of work and worry; it's sport and fun. It's freedom. Of course, you're going to take a vacation this summer! Go to the Adirondacks, this beautiful territory of the Indians is truly a playground paradise natural, unspoiled, refreshing. Other attractive resorts are: Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Lake Champlain, The Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls.
Any number of camps, fine resort hotels, or boarding houses, and accommodations to fit every purse. AH kinds of sports, fine golf and tennis. Your vacation days in this section will make you keen and fit for the work to come.
