MANY SOLDIERS RETURN FROM ARCHANGEL FRONT

The transport Czar arrived here this afternoon from the Archangel front with a detachment of the ::r,ith infantry of the Söth division (Michigan and Wisconsin) national army, under command of Maj. J- R. Nichols of Detroit. Troops from that city made up about (i percent of the detachment. Another detachment is enroute here. The men tell of thrillinc fights in the guerilla warfare conducted against the bolsheviki. The Americans frequently were were out-numbered ten to one. The ."Pth covered a TOO mile front in a 20 mile radius from Archangel. Its casualties were 200 killed and un wounded. The wounded were frequently carried i'öo miles on pony sleds.

Platner added a few of his own experiences. Plan Big Time. Committees will endeavor to make the Kiwanis picnic, the l.wgrst and most successful ever held by the club. The attendance committee have been instruced to sign at least i' 00 members and quests to take part in the occasion. Mayor F. R. Carson will act as official judge at the picnic and will be instructed to see that the participants are well protected even if it is necessary to take a part of the police force with them.
