CITY OFFICIALS TO ATTEND CUSTER SHOW The Camp Custer play, "The Making of a Soldier," played by members of the famous 10th infantry, which will be given at the Olitheater Monday and Tuesday evenings, will tje attended in a body by the city officials. In the party will be Mayor Car son, Police Chief Kline, City Clerk Hilinski, Controller Swygart, Capt. Cordier, members of the board of safety. Dr. L. J. Smith, V. M. Iloone and X. II. Kyser, and their families. Ilocause of the council meeting Monday night it is expected that they will attend the Tuesday performance. The 10th regiment is probably the most famous of all the regular army outfits. It was tirst organized In 1S35 at Willetfs Point. X. Y.. from where they 'were sent to the west to suppress Indian uprisings. It wss ln4 Utah when the Mormons gave trouble, saw service in the Civil war and at the battle of Gettysburg. It was in Cuba and at Santiago on ' S 8 . and served during the Philippine insurrection from 1901 to 1903. The tlrst regiment to serve on the isthmus, remaining there six years, from 1911 to 1917, when it was returned to the United States, to form the nucleus fo the :!3rd. 45th. 46th and 77th infantry regiments which. fought in the world war. The 10th is the only regular army outfit stationed at Camp Custer. SIX GRADUATE FROM Y. M. C. A. SCHOOL Six young men, each finishing a three-year course in the Y. M. C. A i night school, were graduated last evening and were also guests of honor at a 7 o'clock dinner. The affair was held in ho association building with 4 0 members of the various classes present. He;. E. Garfield Johnson, pastor of the Uroadway Evangelical church, delivered the main address, following the dinner. A musical program was also given during the entertainment. Taxi Drive' Tells How Drunk Policeman Flirts
Two weeks ago a drunken polic?n.cn fired seven shots at an autornooilf in an effort to get acquainted with the women pa.enpcrs, accordinfr to Ben Meddo. taxi driver, 617 W. Dunham st., but ho completely was the affair hushed up that the story did not c ome out until last niht. . Police official, even when questioned, said they knew nothing: of the affair. Meddo's story of tht- shooting, what led to it, and what followed, is this: "I was taking two women passengers norne in my car, when Casimir Luznv. a policeman, hut in plain clotnes, stopped me at the corner of Michigan st. and LaSalle av.
