Lieut. Colonel Hinkle to Spend
Month's Furlough With Relatives'
. Lieut. Col. F. M. Hinkle, a South Hend man who served at the front in France in charge of a heavy artillery unit and later in command cf a railway artillery unit and who his boen in the army ever since he volunteered in th Spanish American war, was to arrive in South Itenrt Saturday nipht or Sunday to spend the month of May with relatives. This contractor has probably work booked ahead of your order for two months. He is trying to hold all his customers as lon as lie can as he does not expect this strike to last very long. He served at the fiont during two separate periods, first with the heavy held artillery and afterwards in command of one of the railway artillery units whose lonpr range and high caliber guns did mcuh to sntash German defenses. Col. Hinkle was born in Muncie. Ind., but came to this city with his parents shortly after his graduation from the Muncie high school.

The May meeting of the Civic Federation will be held In the recreation oMlces at the schol administration building on Monday night at R:15 o'clock. Several important matters are to be taken up including reports from the banquet and Fourth of July executive committees. Preceding the meeting at 7:13 o'clock tho executive committee for the annual Fourth of July Muy.'ipal picnic will confer and prepare a report for the federation meeting.
