W. E. MILLER, Chairman of Victory loan. township, stated to The News-Times that he expected the over subscription to amount to $70,000 before evening. He issued the following statement during the morning: Mishawaka and Fenn township have again proven their patriotism and good business judgment by subscribing more than their epiota for Victory Liberty loan bonds. There are some people in the city and township well able to buy who hae not bought a dollar's worth of

these, bonds. It ueems to me that their reputation as shrewd business men has failed them at this time. Many of them have in times past been keen to buy bonds that would net them 4 percent tax free, but

at this time they cannot even see a 4a4 percent tax free bond. The emly way 1 can figure it out is that they are afraid the bonds will decline which is very poor reasoningIt may be possible that these bonds will go a little below par but I do not believe very much, but even if they do they have but four years to run ami the chances are that everybody will live to their maturity at which time they will be worth pur or more. An analysis of the purchases of

bonds speaks well for the employes! TO ENTERTAIN CLASS. of Mishawaka factories as it shows I Mrs. William Weisweaver, 1 H

He did not ask him if he had driven the car from Chicago but says be asked him how long it "would" take him to drive to South Bend from Chicago.
