A verdict was returned for the defendant by the jury in the malicious prosecution ca. of Louisa Pay .gainst Mamie Conrad. Jacob C. Conran and Jennie Stevens. The verdict was announced at r:'0 o'clock Thursday morning after the Jury had spent the entite night deliberating Upon the evidence of the case. The case which ha.s been on trial for over a week in the circuit court before Judtro Walter A. Funk rcw out of the double murder which occurred in Iliver Park on April 2". 1 1 7 , when George Mikesell and his wife. Sarah, were beat to death with an axe in the barn in the rear of their home. A short time after the murder Louisa Lay and her husband were arrested at their home in Cassnpoli.". AVhen the "whippet" army tank arrives in South Bend Friday to aid in the Victory loan campaign, it will be iti charge of a former. South Bend citizen, Lieut. Logsdon. Lieut. Loqselon is a brother of A. W. Logsdon and Mrs. C. K. (Jrairne of this city. The t.mk is scheduled "to arrive in South Bend early Friday morning, ami it will he assembled here afte-r its arrival over the New York Central. It will be Liken over South Bend and Mishawaka during the day, provided it arrives in time to be assembled Friday. If not the? time for its stay here will he extended over te Saturday. Preliminary plans for the Victory drive are going steadily ahead under the direction of County Chairman W. L. 'handler, assisted by William K. Ltmport. vice county chairman. The loan headquarters, at the Klks temple on W. Colfax av., are being put into shape for handling the i ampaign.

North Indiana Methodists Have Raised Five Hundred Thousand.
FLUT, Ind., April 3. Five hundred thousand dollars was raised by the Xorth Indiana conference of the M. F. church which is in session here, for the centenary fund. Richmond. lnl.. was chosen for the next conference during the latter part of March or the early part of April next year. The exact date for the ne-xt conference will be decided by bishops in semi-annual meeting in Now York c ity. Lev. It. L. Overdeer is pastor of the Richmond Grace M. L. church. During the session Thursday Supt. F. Solipeter of the Wabash district was presentee! with a gold purse by his pastors. Hart, 28 years old, was found guilty here today of slaying Mrs. Pauline McConnell, formerly of Tulsa, Okla.. and the wife of Harold McConnell. a soldier living at Woodstock, 111. Hart was sentenced to 10 years in the penitentiary. Hart testified Mrs. McConnell was
