Hardin?, referring last night to athdavits presented at today's session of the Iowa hou.se judiciary committee's investigation of the Kathbun pardon case, branded as "utterly preposterous" any intimations that he acted corruptly in gra-Uins the pardon. The povernor's statement was caused by an affidavit introduced as evidence by Atty. Gen. II .M. Havner. in which William Rathhun, father of the pardoned youth, asserted he pave $5.000 in currency to his attorney, George Clark, with the understanding that it was to po to the governor. Mr. Havner presented several other athdavits from members of the Rathbun family, and after his examination had ended late today, J. L. Kennedy of Sioux City, special state prosecutor, testified briefly. He will continue tomorrow. "Any intimations that I received money for the pardon of Ernest Kathbun. ' the governor t:ld.
