Two able speakers, the Rev. A. K. IJell. of Toledo, O., and the llev. II. E. Golladay. D. D.. of Columba. O., will be in the city on Thursday evenini? to address the Lutheran mass meeting at the high school auditorium. Thesa men will address similar meetings In Richmond, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne during this week. Both men have? served aa camp pastors under the National Lutheran Commission for Soldiers' and Sailors' Welfare and their iressape is expected to De one well worth hearing. They will tell of the work done by the church during the war and of the reconstruction service which is to be undertaken now that the war is over. During this month of February 14 denominations will hold campaigns for funds for reconstruction service. The local meeting Is in line with the campaign to pive information preliminary to the drive for funds. Representatives will be present from the various Lutheran congregations in this part of the state, and after the meeting the representatives, together with the local n orkers, will meet with the district chairman, J. F. E. Zimmer, of this city, to plan the campaign for funds which is to be conducted Feb. 16-26. I'ractically the same organization 1j beiiirT used this year a.s was used last year in the drive for funds for work amonpr the soldiers and sailors. In last year's drive $7 50,000 was asked for, and the subscription amounted to ?1,33S,000. This fact promises well for the corning drive. In addition to the addresses on Thursday evening there will be specia' music and community sinking. Tho meeting will begin promptly at S p. m. and will be in charge of the Rev. A. H. Keck. No offering or subscriptions will be asked for at this meeting. The general public is cordially invited to attend.

Don t Let Soap Spoil Your Hair

When you wash your hair, be careful what you use. Most soaps and prepared shampoos contain too much alkali, which is very injurious, as it dries the scalp und makes the hair brittle. The best thing to use Is Just plain mulsified cocoanut oil, for this is pure and entirely greafeless. It's very cheap, and beats the most expensive soaps or anything else all to pieces. You can get this at any drug store, and a few ounces will last the whole family for months. Simply moisten the hair with water and rub it In, about a teaspoonful Is all that U required. It makes an abundance of rich, creamy lather, cleanses thoroughlj. and rinses out easily. The hair dries quickly and evenly, and is soft, fresh looking, bright Huffy, wavy and easy to handle. Resides, it loosens and takes out every particle of dust, dirt and dandruff. Adv.

MRS. COLE RECEIVES LETTER PRAISING SON

CITIZENS BANK & TRUST CO. Safety Deposit Boxes $1.50 per year.

Mrs. A. T. Cole. 1223 W. Washington av., has received letters from the captain and chaplain of the company to which her son, Clyde A., was attached at the time of his death, which occurred on the morning of Nov. 11, during the last drive of the war. Mrs. Cole has also received word from her son, Sergt. John II. l'ittman, who is serving in the A. E. F. with Co. C, 16th infantry, stating that his unit is now identified with the army of occupation, but is hoping after IS months of active service that the next stop" will be America. Portions of the letter from the captain of her son's company, written to Mrs. Cole follow: My dear Mrs. Cole: You have doubtless been notified by the war department that your son was, killed in the last big drive on Nov. 11, lighting to the last in tho great cause of right. Totlay all of the American boys here arc writing Christmas letters to their parents at home. Those few who so splendidly made the supreme sacrifice of liberty and equality can not write. As captain of Co. B, and as a lover of humanity, I write you in humble thankfulness for the services of your son, hoping at the same time that this message may serve to till partially the aching void In a grief-stricken mother3 heart. I am not writing in hope of alleviating the sorrow for a loss that is irreparable; but I write because I, too, have a mother and am, therefore, anxious to offer what consolation I can to the mother of a R Co. man who died true to her teachings and true to his country's ideals. I thought that perhaps it would be some consolation for you to know that your son lost his life on the morning of Nov. 11 in the first wave of the Slst division advance on Hautecourt, about 20 kilometers northeast of Verdun, and he lies buried with his comrades in the little American cemetery near Moranville, department of the Meuse, France. He was a good soldier and died nobly, acting under orders. Ours was the cause of right against wrong. I can think of no more glorious death. I offer you the consolation to be found in the realization of this fact, and call to your mind the words of Jesus Christ: "He who loseth his life for my sake will find it." Sincerely yours. Charles R. Ragley.
