'Creditors Feel Business Men
Are Not Expending Enough Energy.
At a meeting of the directors and crf-ijtorM of tho St. Ju.-e;h county I "air .'i-.Mj'iatinn h-M Tuesday evening in the 1 is mmt of the Court .oti.-'( Christoph'T Fassnacht, acting as chairman of tho creditor's f '.luniittff stated that the purpos of the m e ting w.-is to rail the creditors together ami ascertain their feelings in regard to the fair which is being ; daniifd for next year, th'-ir i-l.is ah out financing it, and th; I -st method of getting it started j - o j. oi ly. There was no disposition on th part of any of tho creditors to 1 ssimistic, for tho report of th" f fir aor iati')n for tho past four y-ar.s whbh vv;is read at tho met- : : i ."-earned to as.--ire the rn-n that they would -t their monc) if th"-v would he willing to wait another year for payment of their hills. A majority of the creditors were present. The fair, up to the present time his only been financed to the extent of 40 per rent. On a 100,000 investment there has only heen $40,000 subscribed. Th general feeling nmoner the creditors was that the down town merchants who profit most hy this annual fair are the ones who are not expending tho energy they should in promoting its success, if theo merchants would Ret out and hustle, boost tho fair and the fair association to the best of their ability, anil also subscribe for stock, there Is no reason to suppose that this year's fair will bo a failure. The general aspect of this case also fits the citizens of tho county. One of the creditors declared laf-t nicht that St. Joe county was not fully aware of the fact that this fair is one of the county's fest assets, and to ho the Li? success that it should, everybody should evince enough interest in it to put it over the top. The creditors who met last nisht ani agreed to wait for their money are, as a general rule, the ones who profit least from the fair. Twenty men last nl ght expressed their willingness to contribute $10a for the initiatory work of starting this year's fairPlans were made to call a meetin? of the stockholders for tho purpose of presenting the new sec-r-'M-y. Walter I,indley. This man. who is former assistant state treasurer of the state of Illinois, com -s highly recommended. lie has been en gaped in this work for a number of years, and at tho meeting will outline his policy of conducting the fair, so that the public will know what they may expect next year. Tho St. Joseph County Fair and Amusement Co. Is the holding company ami the Inter-State fair association is the operating company in this project.

INCREASE PARCEL POST . RATE TO GREAT BRITAIN Additional delivery charges of two
pence are to be levied on all parcel , post packages delivered In Great i F.ritain from foreign countries. This ,
information from the London otlice ;
Is contained in a bulletin received at the local postoth.ee today from Washington. The bulletin also states that an extra charge of six pence is to be levied by Australia on all parcel post packages from foreign countries. Tho reason given for the extra charge is that the adjustment of duty on articles in packages received from foreign countries is tedious and difficult, and in most cases the labor of two wts of offices. Notice has also been received that the regular mail service to Roumania has been resumed. There Is no provision made for parcel post service to that country.
