lishawaka would like to build a V. M.'C A. as a memorial to Its soldier sons, who played quite a prominent part in the world war. In fact, for years Mishawaka nas been striving after this very project, and to rr.any the time would seem to be ripe to launch suieh an enterprise. As to the proposed collisum at Springbrook park, it Is pointed out that this city has not as yet been consulted. While it is true than Mayor Oaylor pavo the Idea hb sanction at a recent meeting In South Lend, ho only voiced his own sentiments, not having consulted any of the citizens in regard to tiii? projtct. If the proposed memorial is to be a county affair it is prob aide that this citv would wholeheartedly suprort the .Springbrook scheme. Hut, on the other hand., if South Iend is Mdected In which to erect a monument, Mishawaka will ahead and work out its own ideas. Whether they take the form of r Y. M. A. or public hall, or any oth r enterprise, the money will be forthcoming for any object worthy of the cause for which it ii intended. Although the erection of a ;en(ral hospital has been .suggested, it is a'rno't the unanimous opinion that Mishawaka is well looked after in this respect, and that St. Joseph's is well able to take care of the city's .ick. although the tirr. 5 may come when the city will need i.nother such institution if it continues to grow in proportion to what it has done in the past few ytar.i. The V. M. C. . project has many ( nthusiastic supporters, and it H admitted that the money necessary for sech an Institution would be re-idily forthcoming. Some of thu fatories, ft is known, would cnthusiastically endorse- .uch an enterprise, which would be sure to receive the moral backing of the returned soldiers who have profited by its .many activities behind the lines in I'rance. In the meantime. Mishawaka is leading with interest the reports of the meetings being held in the sister city, and just as soon as a decision has been arrived at will take action along some line or other.

NEW CARLISLE WINS FROM MISHAWAKA

Mishawaka High school's second team was defeated at New Carlisle by New Carlisle Friday night, the score being 2 4 to 21. The locals wer outplayed in the first half and all of their points were made by the star forward. Carman. Rheinhart and Sheed of New Carlisle made most of the winning team's point.. The tlrst half ended with New Carlisle 14 and Mishawaka 7. In tho econd half the locals got together and made 14 points, while New Carlisle made 10. The line-up was as follows: Mishawaka. 21. The French delegates to th peace oonrress, in addition to Premier Clemenceau and Stephen I'ichon, the foreign minister, are likely to be Louis Klotz, minister of finance; Leon Bourgeois, president of the French Society for a League of Nations, and Captain Andre Ta.-dieu, head of the general commission for Franco-American war mattrs. it was reported today. M. Klotz and M. Bourgeois anl Captain Tardieu will, it is considered probable, represent France in the three chef subjects finance, the leatue of nations and commerce. DUBLIN, Jan. 4. The Sinn Feiner will assemble here, probably next week, for what they . describe as the "f rst parliament of the Irish republic." They will declare, it is asserted, that the recent elections show Ireland's self determination as an independent republic and will demand that Ireland's case be heard at the peace conference. It had been supposed that the. proceedings will be limited to this form of demonstration but this week's principal Sinn Fein organ says; "The national assembly can issue its edicts and the people must obey them." The belief is expressed here that although the holding of the assembly is considered illegal the government will not prohibit it and that not until its activities lead to attempts to compel the people to obey its decrees will government action be demanded. About 20 Sinn Felners elected to parliament are still interned as English prisoners charged with complicity in Herman plots.
