His address will be illustrated with a three reel motion picture of scenes of Hed Cross activities In Furope. ne AH Bar Fixtures Must be Out by Thursday Night Mayor Carson Orders Former Saloons Dismantled and Closed Up. Assuming personal charge of the conduct of the police department for the time being. Mayor Carson Saturday morning issued .sweeping orders to his two chiefs of police. Chief Kline and Asst. Chief 'Caidy, to see that all saloon fixtures are removed from places where former Faloons were conducted by Thursday i nii,-ht at 0 o'clock and that the places I close up at once. ! The mayor instructed the two chief to notify every former sa- ! loonkeeper in the city at once to i take out the fixture In their places of business, and to warn them that j if they arc not removed by Thursday night, the police will serve them as 1 they did Ialward H. Mrs. Charles V. Dietrich of rural route No. 3. South Rend, was notified

by the war department Trlday that hrr son, Cpl. Howard W. Dietrich, headquarters company, tirst Held artillery brigade, had died In Franc1 j of pneumonia Sept. 2 7. I Cpl. Dietrich, who enliste.- in i fouth Bend in June. 1917, had ; been in France since last November. In May he was promoted to a corporal. ! The younfr soldier took an active ! part in many of the preat battles of the pat summer and was frequently cited for courageous conduct and bravery in action, and on June 9 voluntarily left his shelter and faced an extremely heavy f.re to rescue a wounded otficor who had fallen on the battle field. For thte valorous deed he was awarded the distinguished service medal. Cpl. Dietrich was 22 years old and is airvived by his mother and a brother and sister, Clarence and Frances, both of whom are at home with the mother.
