LONDON (1 p. m.). Sept. 7 The Fr f'nc.h have advanced a few miles on a 40-mile front, at one point, making four miles progress. Tergnier has been captured from the Germans said a report from the battle field this afternoon. British troops have progressed alone: the entire front from Havrincourt to the Aisne river. The capture of Tergnier by the French is an unusually important feat. Tergnier is a big railway junction center.
