DEFENDANT SPOILS TRIAL BY JURY BY PLEADING GUILTY There came very near being a jury trial in city court Saturday morning. Everything was all set, the jury had been examined, the attorneys in the case were all prepared, and the judge was about to order the jury sworn in and then the defendant spoiled everything by pleading guilty. It was the case of Michael Dolniak. 14 09 W. Division st.. charged with assault and battery on Iiis brother-in-law. August J. .lagers. üO.'l W. Division st. The attorney for the defendant Friday morning asked for a jury trial and it was set for trial Saturday morning. The case proceeded with uninterrupted smoothness until the defendant decided to do away with the agony and suspense of a long trial. He admitted his guilt and was Jit.e.1 5 5 and costs and given a suspended jail sentence of 60 days. In spite of the ruling of the supreme court Friday that Indiana, which is supposed to include youth Jend in its operation, is dry, Dick Pell was arrested on a charge of intoxication.
