SPRING is, indeed, upon us; the resurrection of nature the renewed life. The stone is rolled away from the door. Winters cold blossoms with warmth. Nature speaks of the resurrection; a fitting season for the commemoration of the great proof of Him; the Lamb of God, who died and arose again; who taketh away the sins of the world. It is as the spring of Hope, born of a Winter of Despair. Let it rise today as from the Slough of Despond unto the Delectable Mountain. Hope! Dream on. Dream on the lofty things in life for it is the lofty-peaks that catch the early morning ray. It is the peaks that are bright long after the foothills slumber in the folds of night. Dream on the bright sicie of life,, on the certainty of reward for good, and the ultimate triumph of right. It is God's guarantee. Christ is risen.

THE HE A VENS IN APRIL By Dr. C. S. Brainin of the ColumHa University O'rservaiorv Start.

The April evening sky still very rick in plar.et?, a. one can se by clancing at our map, which show r.ot less than four of these brothers of the earth. Jupiter is ttil! In the constellation of Taurus, far down the northwest. Next month' map will show him practically on the horizon at map time, and on the next follow int; map we shall m! him entirely. It is q tite tay to di.-tinguiah hirn troin the neighboring iirst-manltude star Aider:, aran. as the latter is much leüä bright and of a reddish tint. Close to the meridan and just west of it our map show Saturn and Neptune. Saturn in cu.-:lv ic o;ni.able as it blunts v.-jthout twlnkllnsr; but Neptune is practkal!y invisible to the naked ye. Well to the eat of the meridan is another steady, shining star, and that is the plantt Mars, with a noticeably red tlnn; in its light. Of the three remaining planets, Pranus i, like Neptune, in the difJiculty of observation, but the enthusiastic astronomer who is bent upon investigating all the members of the solar system this month can see Mercury and Venus by making his observations Just before sunrise. Venus will be a beautiful object in the mornini? sky the entire month, just as we saw her in tho evening sky last fall and winter. Mercury is a morning star in the early part of the month, and the observations must be made between the tirst and the 10th, as the planet is observable only for a few Jays before and after its portion of maximum angular distance from the sun. The proximity of Mercury to the sun makes observation very difhucult, and as a result pra tica'ly nothing is known of its physical condition and surface. The Lion. There are two Uon constellations in the heavens Leo and Jeo Minor. Ieo Is a very famous group containing the lirst-magnitude star Uegulus, the royal star Dencbola and the su'o-group known as the Sickle. Thei are shown on tho map, Hegulus and the fickle practically on the meridan. Just north of the KIckle s the rather insigni hcant constellation of the lesser Lion. This Is not one of the ancient constellations, but was named as a Idencc. 2.11 Hsney av. Bible sehool at 9:"J n. m. It. White, superintendent. Well-formetl classes ni h splen-litl tfirps of teachers. Today this i.s no longer true, as the pos.tion of the equinoxes and solstices has shifted in the heavens, owing o the phenomenon called the pre.ctaion of the equinoxes. Some time ago we had occasion in this column to tell our readers of the total eclipse of the sun which is to take place on June 8. The totality will be visible in quite a considerable section of the Fnitod States, as the path stretches all the way from the Pacific coast of the state of Washington diagonally across the country to Florida in the southeast. Though the path is thus thousands of miles long, it is very narrow and one has to bet at a point within the path of totality to see the real splendor of the phenomenon. For that reason we advise all who can to make the pilgrimage to the temporary Meccas of the astronomers. It will certainly be well worth it. open air meeting every Wednesday.
