All directions for conducting the work are receded by the state council from Washington and the work of the various committees is explained in detail through bulletins. The food organization is under one central committee of the state council, with sub-divisions for food production and food conservation. The department of education sent out patriotic letters to the school children early in the month as a part of their efforts and 1740 circular letters regarding war gardens and food conservation were sent from South Rend to the residents of the rural distr.cts.
