Kail way Co., whicK no v.- owns the old Goshen, South I'.er.d and Chicago railroad, and Philip I Poe who recently purchased the old road at public miction to discontinue its operation, receipts for the pa?t 2 months beins far U.s than operating expenses. The story of the old dream, which ended Thursday, and which became famous throughout the central wesl and the financial centers of the east in its incipicncy, is told briefly In the roiim)i'iu!i-y order, as follow: Story of Project. Evidence introduced farther re-real-that thvs .'0-mile section of interurban railroad (between Goodrun. Ind., and I-iporte wu built as part f an air-line electric railroad projected to run between Chicago and New York a dream of a lö-hour, direct, hiuh-sp. ed electric railroad between the two Rr'at cities of the American continent, for whl'-h investors are said to have advanced, or bought stock in, to th am ont of some three million of dollars. This L'o-mih section of road :s all that Ij left of that enterprise. Carry ins: out the original piaa.-, th" road was unr.sually well constructed, the trades beinK reduced, and an air-line route beinjr adopted, whic!i resulted in towns that mighi have been revenue-producing beins disregarded. The load, their fore, runs? from the city of T.aporte westward a distance of 20 miles, without touching a town, and it has its terminal at Coodrun. which was never anything more than simply a Junction station. The only town near said railroad is the town of Westville. which lies a mile or more south of the track. The land holdings 'are, comparatively ppeaklnc, larre. throuch the I'O miles, throush which said railroad passes, and do not afford local t rattle that is usually to be expected for the s-usrainin? of purely local lines, such as this traction line." Abandonment no Hardship. The section of the country, throush which the line runs Is taken care of by lines of railroad out of Chicapo to such an extent that the abandonment of the road will not work a hardship, the order said. The order further shows that the Gary and Interurban road recerrtly having passed through a receivership I3 not in financial position to holster up the rernnant of the old air-line project longer. Provision Is made in the order for the city of Laporte to purchase that

part of the track, which lies within the city limits of that city, and provides against thee tracks being torn up prior to July 1, even though the city of Iaporte is not able to purchase the tracks by that time, the consideration for such purchase teing stipulated as $3,000.
