Br rranora ALTi-mxATi: ii:ms. It i a difficult matter for the housekeeper to follow exactly any set of menus out for a week at a time even If jhe herstlf makes them out. For market conditions vary unexpectedly from day to day and different conditions arise from those looked forward to company comes, or a member of the family goes away, or the weather becomes ery warm when "yon thought it would be cool, or cool when you had planned for warm weather. Now in tspite of the fact that it is diiHcult and sometimes impossible to follow exactly any menus, it is a very pood plan to make them just the same. Put inako them so that they can be varied as need be. For instance, if you are making out menus for next week, you don't know what the weather will be. CHILDREN'S DISPENSARY GIVES 1,072 QUARTS OF MILK TO THE NEEDY At a meeting of the directors of the Children's dispensary, the treasurer reported that 1,072 quarts of milk, amounting to $?.". SO had been distributed to the needy families during the month of September. If the visiting nurFO think3 that the family is able to pay part value for the milk ihey do so, but much of the milk is given free to such babies as could not have it if it were not for the dispensary. During September the visiting nurse made J6S calls at the homes of clinic babies. At the homes where she visits, she teaches the mothers how to mix feedings, sterilization of bottles and all utensils connected with the preparation of the baby's food, and points out the great need of and benefit from such care of the baby. There are in addition to the 4 2 patients at present enrolled at the dispensary, 10 private cases which the nurse cares for between clinics, for they are able t.) pay for and hav their own doctors but the mothers are glad to have the supervision of an experienced nurse. At the free clinics the attending physicians for the month of September have been Dr. Hillman. Dr. Hansel. Dr. Savery. Dr. Dehey and Dr.' TTelman. Miss Louise Studebaker. who has been specializing in social welfare work at Columbia university this summer made a report at the meeting.
