WILSON TO INTERVENE IN SHIPPING DISPUTE
(CONTINUED FROM RACE ONE)
ferrlng to the shipping board the fleet corporation the powers conferred on him by congress, he followed the suggestions of Mr. Denman, it Is known the president would !e reluctant to lose Gen. Goethal's services. There is reason to believe, too. that the- president would hesitate to displace Mr. Denrr.an. Officials in close touch with the situation think the president may adopt one of three courses. lie could leave the status of both otli -rials very much as it is and make a personal appeal to both to bury their lifferences, and work in harmony. Again he could give full powers to Gen. Goethals and direct th shipping board not to hamper him in any way. Another way suggested is that he could give Chairman Denman full authority and ask Gen. Goethals to render a patriotic service by following the shipping board's plans. Many believe the present disagree ment might be settled by the president himself, formulating a program from which berth Gen. Goethals and the shipping board have to offer, but possibilities of future clashes still are seen by those who believe temperamental differences between Mr. Denman and Gen. Goethals can never be harmonized.

An Open Letter to the M usic Lovers of South. Bend Sundav. Julvl22nd,l9lA. - To All Music Lovers: Music in the home is one of the greatest delights in! the world v: provided it is good music. Many folks, musically inclined, have- an aversion to player pianos, phonographs and in fact any form , of, .music that has a mechanical attachment. It seems absurd to think of hearing an artist play upon a.tin'violin, or a steel cello, hut is no more absurd than to imagine renl music, of rich, delicate tone coming from the ordinary phonograph with its metal throat, or sound box. No wonder so many have .said they did not care for phonographs, "canned music" all had the old familiar phonograph sound, it was not natural, it was not satisfactory. But inventive genius, backed by seventy-five years experience in tine cabinet making, brought forth a phonograph which possesses a throat as delicately created for tone, as the finest Stradivarius, or the most magnificent piano. To listen to this instrument is to hear the music of the world, voice, violin, orchestra or band with full volume and a depth and richness of tone equaled only by the original rendition itself. The all wooden tone chamber is responsible for this. We ask everyone, whether with a prejudice against phonograph-., or not, to attend one of our afternoon concerts the coming week. Hear the actual reproductions of music you love, judge for yourself, whether or not in the Brunswick Phonograph there is at last. attained positive. perfection from every musical standpoint. The reputation of Brunswick-Balke-Collender, the world's bet known cabinet makers, aiui our own reputation back up the Brunswick Phonograph. It plays all records, and we recommend the splendid Pathe disks of which there are 96,000 to select from. But no matter what record you prefer you can play it on the Brunswick, and you have no needles to change or bother with. The priceare wonderfully moderate, less than other standard makes, while in beauty, durability, simplicity and above all else in real musical lone, and volume the Brunswick stands supreme. We are willing, and anxious to have you try a Brunswick in your own home, put it beside any other phonograph, no matter what its make or claims, and you will see why the Brunswick is the choice of discriminating music lovers everywhere. Concerts each afternoon the coming week from 2 to 5. Come and bring your friends. A cordial invitation is extended to one and all. Very truly yours, SMITH & W HERR ETT
