UCK FO PRESIDENT WILSON WASHINGTON. June During ihe week while the hosts of the Fnited Confederate Veterans were holding their annual reunion here, the executive cdlices of the white house took on something of the complexion of the sanctum of a country newspaper in the "good old days' when subscriptions to the "Town Voice" were paid in "currency of the realm" that ränge! from a cord of wood to the prize winning squash at the county fair. Among the thousands of grayhaired patriarchs who fought with Lee in the sixties, and who were in the city attending the convention, perhaps a dozen brought with them offerings and gifts to Pres't Wilson. One old battle-scarred North Carolinian came to the white house bringing in a bundle a dozen fresh laid eggs and two Plymouth rock broilers. "These here chicks I raised myself, and these eegs are as fresh as a mornin in sprirm, and I guess such a mess is good enough for even the president's table. I would appreciate, sir, if you would give them to him with my compliments." An old lady from Georgia handed in her basket full of new string beans and potatoes with the remark: "You know Pres't Wilsen is one of our boys from the southland, r.nd I never knew any of our lads who didn't like home grown egetables in the spring." Young1 Woman Makes 1 f t . One pretty young girl from Tennessee, at the close cf Pres't Wilson's stirring speech to the "boys in gray", insisted on gilng to Col. W. W. Harts, the president's aid?, an old family heirloom, rich in some tradition of the Civil war. that she lesired to be presented to the presi dent. put there were several members of Stonewall" Jackson's old fighting brigade who openly criticized the president's speech. "Why. sir." they said, "he never once mentioned Jeff Davis's or Pobert K. Lee's nam?, not to mention old Stonewall himself. W.iat kind oX . neech is Uxa.t?"
