The committee also resolved to send a delegation to establish relations with the socialist delegates at Stockholm and to send delegates to neutral and al- t lied countries to further the peace movement. It Avas resoh'ed to call a conference of the socialist internationale and to invite to the conference representatives of all parties agreeing with the council's appeal. The resolutions adopted by the executive committee included: First to convoke a conference o? the socialist internationale. To Invite All Faction. Second, to invite to attend the conference representatives of all parties and factions of the international proletariat agreeing Avith the council of soldiers' and workmen's delegates appeal to the peoples of the Avorld. Despite the fact that the Germans are attacking with every kind of artillery and every human force, the British today Avere holding fast to their hard Avon positions on the Arras battle front. They beat back attacks of unprecedented fury last nipht and today one of the greatest battles of the last feAV weeks is in progress. Machine guns, hand grenades and the bayonet are coming into play, and even liquid flame, boiling oil and poisonous gas are being employed. Nowhere in the official bulletins is there tho slightest indication the Germans have obtained a foot of ground. At some points the allies were pushed back by sheer Aveight of numbers but they later recovered their ground. On the French front Germans are suffering signal defeats.
