Coach Harper Sends Baseball Candidates Through Drill Despite Chilly Breeze.

Cold weather held no terrors for Coach Harper and his baseball charges yesterday afternoon and the

Loosier tossers romped through aj tpeedy outdoor session lespite the I downward drop of the mercury. j Harper pave special attention to J the work of his outfielders. He had!

them out early in the afternoon, chasing all over the lot after lonsr; Uios. "Speed" is the coach's watchword in drilling his outfielders. He is up against a task in building an entirely new outfield defence and he will leave nothing undone in hi3 efforts to perfect the play of the men. It is possible that Sullivan may be shifted from the infield to the outfield. ".Sully" has been putting up a jrood frame at third base on the second team, but Capt. Kline Ions ago proved his worth at the far corner. The new man is a pood hitter and is speedy, however, and he may develop into a classy outfielder, if Harper decides to try him in the outer garden. The baseball men came in for another session of battlm: practice during yesterday's workout. Harper sent recruits to the slab to pitch to the batters. The practice ended with infield drill. Asst. Coach Itockne had the football candidates working out on the old playing lot in Carter field again yesterday afternoon. The men are rapidly mastering the plays which have been given out to them and they are displaying a speed in their signal drill that is characteristic of fall practice. The distance men of the track squad are taking their daily cross country runs in preparation for the regular outdoor work which will start in the near future.

Chalmers puts quality materials and quality workmanship into every piece of every Chalmers car. Therein lies the difference between the Chalmers and most other cars

Here .are three parts out of thousands in the chassis. They are hidden moving parts of the motor the crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons. Chalmers makes them of extraordinary materials with extraordinary care and thoroughness, One-Piece Crankshaft The crankshaft is drop-forged from heat treated carbon steel in a single piece. Balancing weights are integral with the shaft. The shaft is 2 inches in diameter. Sturdy, but not heavy. Rigid. Strong. It is balanced while rotating at a fast rate of speed, on a unique machine. This helps you to understand why the Chalmers motor is so smooth.

Connecting Rods Strong, Light Connecting rods are designed to secure rigidity and lightness. They are made of special carbon steel. Are unusually strong and dependable. Each rod weighs only 41 ounces. Yet they will withstand greater stress and strain than some connecting roda weighing almost twice as much. Light Weight Pistons Chalmers pistons are of Lynite. A light and tough metal, about l$ the weight of cast iron. Chalmers pistons reduce the strain on the bearings'. They insure the marvelous Chalmers smoothness. They make possible the remarkable Chalmers power.
